This study sought to determine the relationships that exist among junior high school students' participation in school performing ensembles, those skills measured by the Gaston Test of Musicality, and the number of years of private study on the piano or on ensemble instruments. (Author/SJL)

A total of 44 preschool, elementary, high school, and college students were taught piano in groups of two, four, six, and eight. The evaluation consisted of 15 basic keyboard skills. Results from tests for combined groups and for age level groups revealed no statistically significant differences in individual achievement. (Author/SJL)

The Motoric Music Skills Test was administered to 808 children, ages three to six, from seven Kansas communities. Analysis of descriptive and inferential data indicate that the measured skills increase with age and differ by sex.
