Sink, Patricia E.
Journal of Research in Music Education, v31 n2 p101-13 Sum 1983
Results of the study, which involved undergraduate and graduate music students, demonstrated that (1) various rhythmic alterations affect perception of rhythmic dissimilarity; (2) melody alters perception of rhythmic dissimilarity; (3) and the simultaneous presentation of melody and rhythm may result in reduced attention to absolute rhythmic structures in music.
