Student Achievement and Middle Level Programs, Policies, and Practices in Rural America: The Case of Community-Based Versus Consolidated Organizations.
Hough, David; Sills-Briegel, Toni
Journal of Research in Rural Education, v13 n1 p64-70 Spr 1997
A study of 40 community-based rural schools and 40 consolidated rural schools revealed no differences in student achievement, and found that although consolidated schools implemented more middle-level components, the proliferation of middle schools was not causing consolidation. Recommends that the relationship between student achievement and the implementation of middle-level components be studied. (TD)
