An Analysis of Writing Strategies of Two Children with Mild Disabilities in a Whole Language Classroom.
Keefe, Charlotte Hendrick; And Others
Journal of Research in Childhood Education, v11 n2 p101-13 Spr-Sum 1997
Observed writing strategies of two students in a primary, self-contained special education class using a whole language philosophy. Found that students showed concern for meaning and conventions and that they used metacognitive strategies, such as rereading or prior knowledge; external sources of help, including dictionaries or teacher assistance; and independent writing behavior, such as temporary spelling or rule internalization.
