The Effects of Live Accompaniment, Intelligent Digital Accompaniment, and No Accompaniment on Musicians' Performance Quality.
Sheldon, Deborah A.; Reese, Sam; Grashel, John
Journal of Research in Music Education, v47 n3 p251-65 Fall 1999
Investigates the performance-quality ratings among college-age instrumentalists grouped in three solo preparation conditions using no accompaniment, live accompaniment, or intelligent digital accompaniment. Finds that the highest quality ratings across all groups were achieved in rhythm, technique, and articulation; the second performance ratings rose only for the no accompaniment group. (CMK)
