Individual Expressive Performance: Its Relationship to Ensemble Achievement, Technical Achievement, and Musical Background.
Broomhead, Paul
Journal of Research in Music Education, v49 n1 p71-84 Spr 2001
Evaluates the expressive performances of ensembles and individuals in order to address the relationship between individual and ensemble expressive performance achievement. Questions the validity of using ensemble expressiveness as an indicator of individual expressive achievement. Suggests that efforts to separate technical and expressive aspects of performance may be misplaced. (DAJ)
