Hagedorn, Linda Serra; Siadat, M. Vali; Fogel, Shereen F.; Pascarella, Ernest T.; Nora, Amaury
Research in Higher Education, v40 n3 p261-84 Jun 1999
A study using a path-analytic model compared first-year college students enrolled in remedial-type mathematics courses with counterparts enrolled in nonremedial coursework. Results revealed that students enrolled in nonremedial courses entered the institution with many advantages over those enrolled in remedial mathematics. Background variables played a major role in determining success in college mathematics. (Author/MSE)
