Desire To Finish College: An Empirical Link between Motivation and Persistence.
Allen, David
Research in Higher Education, v40 n4 p461-85 Aug 1999
A study examined the structural relationship among four constructs--motivational factors, student background, academic performance, and student persistence in college--for both minorities and non-minorities. Although motivation failed to impact academic performance for either racial subgroup, there was a significant motivational effect on persistence for minorities, but not for non-minorities. Policy implications are examined. (Author/MSE)
