Three Voices: Researching How Somatic Education Informs Contemporary Dance Technique Classes.
Fortin, Sylvie; Long, Warwick; Lord, Madeleine
Research in Dance Education, v3 n2 p155-79 2002
Examined how the Feldenkrais Method of somatic education informed a series of contemporary technique classes in a professional setting in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Collaborative research findings highlighted three themes: transfer of learning, movement awareness facilitation, and construction of the dancing bodies. This study works toward a shift in the dance culture that embraces self-awareness in dance practice. (SM)
