Factors Associated with Student Mobility in Nigerian Secondary Schools
Ejieh, Michael U. C.
Research in Education, v71 p17-24 May 2004
This study was designed to find out why secondary school students changed schools, the trends and the frequency of change of school among them. The data was collected by means of a set of questionnaires administered to 251 final-year students who had moved from one school to another in the course of their secondary education. Analysis showed that most students changed school mainly because of factors such as lack of, or inadequate, libraries, laboratories and workshops and dissatisfaction with the quality of teaching. Most of them changed school in the first years of both the junior and the senior secondary courses. The implications for educational practice are put forward.
