Teacher Beliefs about Learning: What Happens When the Child Doesn't Fit the Schema? (Diverse Learners in the Classroom).
Schirmer, Barbara R.; And Others
Reading Teacher, v50 n8 p690-92 May 1997
Explores what happens when teacher beliefs about learning are challenged by children who do not fit the teacher's schema. Uses the example of a child with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder to illustrate this issue, and suggests that teachers pay close attention to children who may not thrive in a classroom environment strongly rooted in a particular belief about learning.
