The Social Status of Mildly Learning Handicapped High School Students.
Zetlin, Andrea G.
Psychology in the Schools, v24 n2 p165-73 Apr 1987
Naturalistic observations of special education classrooms in a high school, together with teacher ratings of social acceptance, revealed four status positions within a learning handicapped group. Conformity to school expectations was inversely related to social standing, while behavioral dominance was directly related. Discusses individual and school factors that contribute to the emergence and maintenance of the status groups. (Author/KS)
