The Effects of Gender on the Transition of Transfer Students into a New School.
Pillen, Bart L.; And Others
Psychology in the Schools, v25 n2 p187-94 Apr 1988
Administered peer-tutoring program using computer-assisted instruction to help first through fourth graders entering new school. Found that tutored girls increased positive self-perceptions as result of program, whereas boys declined in positive self-perceptions, but exhibited gains in reading scores. Suggest that prevention efforts should consider adaptation needs of transfer students by gender. (Author/NB)
