Collaborative Literacy Intervention Project (CLIP) Training as a Professional Development Tool
Noel, Laura
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Northern Arizona University
80% of students tutored by a CLIP trained teacher remain at or above grade level in reading even 5 years after they are tutored. This is a remarkable rate of success and a lasting testament to the effectiveness of CLIP tutoring. But does the professional development built into the CLIP program also cause teachers to be more effective in the classroom? The "t"-tests revealed the mean NCE of CLIP trained teachers was higher than those not trained. Additionally, teachers responded to a survey strongly affirmative that they perceived CLIP training to help the teacher be more effective.
