Teacher Perceptions of Parenting at a Private Pre K-12 School
Malone, Terrence
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Northern Kentucky University
This study investigated the impact of parenting trends on a private Pre K-12 school from the Midwestern United States. The researcher used focus group interviews with 16 educators to examine the perceived effects of parenting on teachers, students and the institution. Results from a survey, reaching a larger sample of educators from two additional Pre K-12 schools, further investigated the perception of educators on parenting tendencies. This study also challenged the phenomenon titled over-parenting, and the notion that there was a growing trend in schools where parents too quickly and too often intervened on behalf of their children.
