The purpose of this quantitative survey study was to determine the influence of attitudes toward students with disabilities and counselor self-efficacy on school counselors' perceptions of preparedness to provide services to students with learning disabilities using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB; Ajzen, 1985). One hundred and sixteen practicing school counselors completed the School Counselor Preparation Survey-Revised, the Attitudes Toward Disabled Persons Scale-Form 0, and the School Counselor Self-Efficacy Scale. Results revealed that school counselors rate themselves as between somewhat prepared and prepared to provide services to students with learning disabilities. Additionally, correlations indicated a moderately strong positive relationship between self-efficacy and perceptions of preparedness while no significant relationship was found between attitudes toward students with disabilities and perceptions of preparedness. A significant negative relationship between attitudes toward students with disabilities and self-efficacy indicated a weak tendency for school counselors who possess more negative attitudes to have higher self-efficacy. A multiple regression analysis revealed that attitudes and self-efficacy constituted a significant increase in the shared variance in perceptions of preparedness. Implications for school counselors and counselor educators are presented as well suggestions for future research.
