This study explored characteristics relating to school counselors' readiness to implement the ASCA National Model®. Characteristics such as graduate training, years of experience, supervision, professional memberships, self-efficacy, school level, geographic setting, and caseload requirements were considered. A sample of 160 school counselors completed questionnaires relating to the variables. Independent-samples t tests, one-way analysis of variance, and linear and multiple regression analysis were conducted. Self-efficacy was significant in the linear regression to predict school counselor readiness. Also, a significant difference was found between urban and suburban school counselors, as well as between school counselors with and without clinical supervision. The multiple regression showed self-efficacy as the only significant contributor to readiness. Limitations of the study and implications of the results are considered.
