Testing & School Improvement--Can Measurement of Result Help Improve the Performance of Schools?
Anderson, Barry; MacDonald, D. Scott; Sinnemann, Christina
Phi Delta Kappan, v85 n10 p735 Jun 2004
Governments have just a few policy levers they can pull to improve schooling. In this article, the authors show how British Columbia is making systematic use of one--information--to focus attention on improving student performance. Parents, students, educators, and elected officials all agree that the high-level performance of schools should be the paramount goal of the education system. From a government perspective, a central question is how to focus discussion about schools in such a way as to create improvement in performance.
