City College of the City University of New York has developed a "Become a Teacher" program that addresses the problem of attracting suitable numbers of potential mathematics and science teachers. The program, begun in 1990, recruits from New York City's high schools, includes several support structures, and has a strong problem-solving approach to math and science teaching. (MLH)
