Presents findings from a 4-year study of 225 cases involving students' sexual abuse by teachers or other professional staff, based on interviews with superintendents, school attorneys, parents, and teachers. Although 39% of accused teachers left the district and 15% were terminated, few lost teaching licenses. Districts need firm policies, staff training, and comprehensive procedures for handling complaints, investigating charges, and providing victim support. (MLH)
