The Crisis in Science Education and the Realities of Science Teaching in the Classroom.
Sigda, Robert B.
Phi Delta Kappan, v64 n9 p624-27 May 1983
Teacher shortages and declining test scores and enrollments characterize the science education crisis. Teachers are blamed for the decline yet are underpaid; must be computer competent; and must teach increasingly complicated, relevant courses. Student science competitions, one-year teaching certification internships at full pay, better salaries, and more funding will help. (PB)
