The 29th Annual Phi Delta Kappa/Gallup Poll of the Public's Attitudes toward the Public Schools.
Rose, Lowell C.; Gallup, Alec M.; Elam, Stanley M.
Phi Delta Kappan, v79 n1 p41-56 Sep 1997
According to the 1997 Phi Delta Kappan poll, the public believes that providing more computers, relocating "troublemakers," establishing national standards, and expanding school choice would help improve student achievement. Three factors influence school success: strong parental support, adequate funding, and cooperative students. Lack of discipline and adequate financing are most frequently mentioned local problems.
