The 2004-05 Education Digest includes data on basic student charges, fall enrollments, residence of students, degrees conferred, and faculty and staff. Data is compiled from annual surveys of Pennsylvania colleges and universities. In 2004-05, Pennsylvania had 148 colleges and universities consisting of 33 public and 115 private institutions. In addition, there were 89 private licensed schools in Pennsylvania authorized to grant specialized associate degrees in business or technology (ASB or AST degrees). Pennsylvania data is compared with national data drawn from the results of surveys conducted by the U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). This report provides data on basic student charges, fall enrollments, residence of students, degrees conferred, and faculty and staff. It also includes a glossary, sources, and nonrespondents.
