The effects of Project HOLD on the behavior, truancy, suspension rate, and academic achievement of problem junior high students are discussed. The program is reported to have a positive effect on referral, suspension, and absence rates. Increased positive self awareness and goal setting are also reported. (RLV)

Refuting the Stereotype: Academic Achievement at Northwestern Junior High School.

In this paper, the effectiveness of a project to reform Northwestern Junior High School in Jacksonville, Florida, is described with reference to improved scores on standardized tests, less teacher absenteeism, and the change strategies which effected these improvements. (WI)
