General Music in Secondary Schools: Beyond the Performing Arts.
Hughes, William O.
NASSP Bulletin, v76 n544 p5-10 May 1992
Recommendations for including general music in secondary school curriculum can be organized around three themes consistent with America 2000 goals: creating or reinventing curricula, creating better schools, and designing programs for all students. Arts instruction must go far beyond band, choir, and orchestra. General music class could accommodate varied class sizes and student abilities and requires no prerequisite experience. (MLH)
