The Brain's Routes and Maps: Vital Connections in Learning.
Nummela, Renate M.; Rosengren, Tennes M.
NASSP Bulletin, v72 n507 p83-86 Apr 1988
The brain's capability to apprehend complex information at multiple levels is ignored when teaching is limited to rote or "symbol-specific" learning. Educators should be concerned with increasing neurological networks or "maps" representing richness of content, instead of teaching isolated, segmented facts along well-worn pathways. Includes nine references. (MLH)
