This paper introduces a method of computer analysis of responses in French tests, and describes a Branched Program Achievement Test suitable for computer analysis. Computer mediation and programmed testing is shown to be an efficient and economical educational strategy. (CHK)

This paper reports the results of a study of student evaluations of first-semester college Spanish. The study sought to determine how accurately student evaluations of teaching performance reflect teaching success. Results show student evaluation reflect very little of teaching effectiveness as defined by student achievement. (CHK)

A German language summer weekly "reader" containing a reading passage, a writing exercise, a puzzle, and an "odds and ends" section was sent to high school students completing German I. Tests showed the reader had a significant effect on German writing proficiency and reading comprehension as students entered German II. (CHK)

An investigation was undertaken to examine relationships between student learning styles and traditional environments or individualized settings in second language learning. Students with high conceptual-level scores preferred an individualized environment, while those with low conceptual-level scores needed a traditional environment. (CHK)

This study inquired into the effect of testing on foreign language learning. The main question was: Do tests of communicative proficiency, when administered in lieu of currently prevailing discrete-point item tests, further the student's spontaneous communicative ability?
