Sung, Yao-Ting; Chao, Tzu-Yang – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2015
The tools used for measuring examination stress have three main limitations: sample selected, sample sizes, and measurement contents. In this study, we constructed the Examination Stress Scale (ExamSS), and 4,717 high school students participated in this research. The results indicate that ExamSS has satisfactory reliability, construct validity,…

Erford, Bradley T.; Miller, Emily M.; Isbister, Katherine – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2015
This study provides preliminary analysis of the Disruptive Behavior Rating Scale-2nd Edition--Self-Report, which was designed to screen individuals aged 10 years and older for anxiety and behavior symptoms. Score reliability and internal and external facets of validity were good for a screening-level test.

Derby, Dustin C.; Smith, Thomas J. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2014
The purpose of the current study was to assess the gender invariance of an a priori four-factor solution of behavioral consequences of drinking. Results evidenced strong partial measurement invariance, with marginal structural invariance, which signals that the underlying constructs possessed the same theoretical structure for both men and women.

Boudreaux, David J.; Dahlen, Eric R.; Madson, Michael B.; Bullock-Yowell, Emily – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2014
This article describes the development and preliminary validation of the Attitudes Toward Anger Management Scale (ATAMS), a self-report measure of attitudes toward anger management services. Undergraduate volunteers ("N" = 415) completed an initial version of the instrument. Principal components analysis yielded a two-factor solution.…

Mullen, Patrick R.; Lambie, Glenn W.; Conley, Abigail H. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2014
The authors present the development of the Ethical and Legal Issues in Counseling Self-Efficacy Scale (ELICSES). The purpose of this article is threefold: (a) present a rationale for the ELICSES, (b) review statistical analysis procedures used to develop the ELICSES, and (c) offer implications for future research and counselor education.

Bashkov, Bozhidar M.; Finney, Sara J. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2013
Traditional methods of assessing construct stability are reviewed and longitudinal mean and covariance structures (LMACS) analysis, a modern approach, is didactically illustrated using psychological entitlement data. Measurement invariance and latent variable stability results are interpreted, emphasizing substantive implications for educators and…

Wong, Alex W. K.; O'Sullivan, Deirdre; Strauser, David R. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2012
This study investigated psychometric properties of the Revised Developmental Work Personality Scale (RDWPS). Results yielded a 14-item three-factor model that aligns with the original DWPS and fits the data very well. RDWPS scores were useful in predicting the resolution of Erikson's fourth stage of development, indicating construct validity.…

Feldt, Ronald C.; Graham, Melody; Dew, Dennis – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2011
This study employed confirmatory factor analysis to examine the quality of fit of two measurement models of the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (N = 305). Following the observation of poor fit, exploratory factor analysis was used. Results indicated six factors that account for the variance in Student Adaptation to College…

Pistole, M. Carole; Roberts, Amber – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2011
This study investigated aspects of construct validity for the scores of a new long-distance romantic relationship measure. A single-factor structure of the long-distance romantic relationship index emerged, with convergent and discriminant evidence of external validity, high internal consistency reliability, and applied utility of the scores.…

Dimitrov, Dimiter M. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2010
This article describes the logic and procedures behind testing for factorial invariance across groups in the context of construct validation. The procedures include testing for configural, measurement, and structural invariance in the framework of multiple-group confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The "forward" (sequential constraint imposition)…

France, Megan K.; Finney, Sara J. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2010
The purpose of this study was to gather validity evidence for the University Mattering Scale. Theoretically based factor structures were tested, resulting in the four-factor conceptualization of mattering being championed. As predicted, university mattering related positively to academic motivational and relatedness constructs and negatively to…

Barry, Carol L.; Finney, Sara J. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2009
Two studies were conducted to examine validity evidence for the College Self-Efficacy Inventory, by investigating dimensionality and theoretically based relationships with external criteria. Modifications to the scale yielded an adequately fitting three-factor model, and most hypothesized relationships were empirically supported. However,…
