Teaching Mathematics in the Middle Years: Is Middle Schooling Necessary?
Perso, Thelma
Australian Mathematics Teacher, v61 n1 p25-31 2004
This paper will provide an informative backdrop for some professional discussion for teachers of mathematics who teach middle years students in their classrooms. It will also attempt to draw out some likely implications of the generic discussion presented for mathematics teaching in the middle years. It also provides some much needed information about what many schools are trying to do, and some rationale for changes that are being mooted or implemented in the comfortable, often "traditional" settings.
