Conic Sections: Draw It, Write It, Do It
Leapard, Barbara B.; Caniglia, Joanne C.
Mathematics Teacher, v99 n3 p152-155 Oct 2005
Students gain greater understanding of the relationships between conics and their equations when they create art-based projects as a culminating activity. Students create drawings that include parabolas, circles, ellipses, and hyperbolas on grid paper and write equations used to create drawings on a different paper, which helps the students to understand more thoroughly the purpose of each of the variables in the formulas after they complete their drawings.
