All "Degreed" Up and Nowhere To Go: Black Males and Literacy Education.
Tatum, Alfred W.
Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, v46 n8 p620-23 May 2003
Discusses the need to reconceptualize literacies in the lives of black males. Suggests there is a need to create environments where black males are encouraged to search for meaning in their lives and construct their visibility. Contends that teacher educators must reconstruct their representation of black males so that they are accurate and meaningful and so future teachers are put in positions to advance their literacies.
