Relationships of job satisfaction and job productivity to work values of beginning workers who graduated from public vocational education programs were investigated. Students' (N=1017) perceptions of barriers, facilitating factors, and information needs related to consideration of careers in science were investigated. In a sample of young women physicians (N=49), self-ratings of Career Satisfaction and Role Harmony were correlated with a group of situational, achievement, and personality variables. Career Satisfaction was extremely high. However, over half experienced at least a moderate amount of strain in integrating professional and sex roles. (Author)

Effects of occupation upon 68 professionals and business managers were studied by means of retrospective focused interviews and objective sorting and rating procedures. Modification of instructions to the Activities and Competencies section of Holland's Self-Directed Search to allow users more flexibility in responding to items was compared to the standard set of instructions.
