Of 365 graduate students surveyed, 279 had workplace mentors. When proteges initiated the relationship, males perceived more mentoring than females. When mentors or both parties initiated it, females perceived more mentoring. Those in informal mentoring relationships reported more mentoring than those in formal relationships.
