Family Support of the Emergent Literacy of Children with Visual Impairments.
Craig, C. J.
Journal of Visual Impairment & Blindness, v90 n3 p194-200 May-Jun 1996
This study examined the frequency and nature of parental support for the emergent literacy of 264 visually impaired children (age birth to 8). Differences in parental support were found to be based on the primary literacy medium (print, braille, or print-braille) and presence of additional disabilities. Parents differed in the literacy opportunities they provided and expectations of and priorities for their children's literacy development. (Author/DB)
