Materials on content of introductory courses in education were analyzed from 81 schools of education. Fifteen topic areas were identified, seven of which received major emphasis: (1) current issues; (2) history; (3) teaching profession; (4) administration; (5) philosophy; (6) social/cultural; and (7) instructional process. There was disagreement over the purpose and approach of the introductory courses. (FG)
