The Instructional Decisions of Preservice Teachers During a Reading Practicum.
Shefelbine, John L.; Hollingsworth, Sandra
Journal of Teacher Education, v38 n1 p36-42 Jan-Feb 1987
Evaluation of the instructional decision-making processes of 14 preservice elementary school teachers during a reading practicum indicated that decisions about diagnosis, planning, lesson balance, and word recognition instruction were difficult even for the best of the prospective teachers, while lower performing teachers also had trouble with text placement, type of reading practice, and developing background knowledge.
