Gender and Cohort Differences in University Students' Decisions To Become Elementary Teacher Education Majors.
Montecinos, Carmen; Nielsen, Lynne E.
Journal of Teacher Education, v48 n1 p47-54 Jan-Feb 1997
To study gender and cohort differences, surveys of male and female preservice elementary and preschool teacher education majors (N=326) examined vocational choice, factors influencing their decision, comfort with that decision, and professional aspirations. Results indicated that males and females were similar in their reasons for selecting elementary education, though four gender and cohort differences emerged. (SM)
