On Becoming a Good Teacher: Reflective Practice with Regard to Children's Voices.
Thomas, Julie Anne; Montgomery, Pat
Journal of Teacher Education, v49 n5 p372-80 Nov-Dec 1998
Examines one professor's beginning as a reflective practitioner who practiced critical reflection in teaching and learning, highlighting research on students' beliefs about good teacher characteristics. Interviews with and observations of elementary students examined their beliefs about what characteristics made a good teacher. Results indicated that children emphasized four characteristics displayed by good teachers: gentleness, caring, understanding, and fun loving. (SM)
