A Longitudinal Study of Physics Students' Conceptions of Force in Pre-service Training for High School Teachers.
Trumper, Ricardo
European Journal of Teacher Education, v22 n2&3 p247-58 1999
Investigated how Israeli secondary physics student teachers developed understanding of the concept of force during preservice teaching. Results from a longitudinal study included the fact that most respondents: held the Aristotelian impetus misconception; held the fading-away concept; had difficulty recognizing reaction as a force; and were ambivalent regarding the necessity of the forces to be balanced in static situations.
