Team Teaching with Academic Core Curricula Teachers: Using Aviation Concepts
Berentsen, Lowell W.
Journal of Industrial Teacher Education, v43 n2 p7-19 Sum 2006
Technology education teachers today have at their disposal the skills, opportunity, experience, ingenuity, expertise, equipment, and environment to greatly improve students' ability to learn and apply the knowledge they have gained in their academic programs. When a technology education teacher joins forces with an academic core teacher, the students reap the benefit of gaining empirical knowledge and skills not usually acquired within the confines of the traditional teacher-centered classroom. Uniting a technology education teacher with an academic core mathematics teacher and using aviation as a theme seems a logical place to start a complimentary team teaching partnership. This article discusses why aviation is one of the most feasible subject to teach technology education in a team teaching environment.
