The Importance of the University Campus Program in Preservice Teacher Education: A Canadian Case Study.
Beck, Clive; Kosnik, Clare
Journal of Teacher Education, v53 n5 p420-32 Nov-Dec 2002
Assessed the impact of a redesigned campus preservice teacher education program on student teacher development. Student teacher interviews indicated that while student teachers made several recommendations for improving the program, it had a major impact on their development as teachers, helping them acquire broad teaching goals, broad pedagogical approaches, specific skills, curriculum knowledge, and a sense of themselves as professionals. This impact depended largely on program structures and approaches. (SM)
