The Color of Teaching.
Gordon, June A.
Journal of Teacher Education, v53 n2 p123-26 Mar-Apr 2002
Discusses "The Color of Teaching," which explores reasons for lack of interest in the teaching profession among students of color through interviews with urban teachers of color and addresses immigration, segregation, exclusion, separation, and discrimination as contexts for understanding teachers of color. The study finds that regardless of academic or socioeconomic status, minority students tend not to be encouraged to enter teaching by their families and communities. (SM)
