Caring--the Missing C in Teacher Education: Lessons Learning from a Segregated African American School.
Morris, Vivian G.; Morris, Curtis L.
Journal of Teacher Education, v53 n2 p120-22 Mar-Apr 2002
Investigated factors that one small, African American community in Alabama perceived as making its school a good school. Data from interviews and surveys involving parents, teachers, administrators, alumni, and community members, and from various primary and secondary documents, indicated that caring, competent, committed teachers; a range of school programs; and parent and community involvement contributed to the school's being a good school. Implications for teacher education are noted. (SM)
