Evaluating the Use of Group Interviews To Select Students into Teacher-Education Programs.
Byrnes, Deborah A.; Kiger, Gary; Schectman, Zipora
Journal of Teacher Education, v54 n2 p163-72 Mar-Apr 2003
Investigated the reliability and validity of a group assessment interview procedure for evaluating the verbal, interpersonal, and leadership qualities of students applying to a teacher education program. Data on 68 student teachers who had participated in the process indicated that the group assessment overall rating predicted student teaching performance better than did academic criteria. There was high interrater reliability on the group assessment measures. (SM)
