The Coverage of Persons with Disabilities in American Newspapers.

The study reviewed a national sample of American newspapers (N=84) concerning their coverage of disability issues. Findings indicated a sizable number (428) of substantial references to persons with disabilities or their families on a daily basis. Such references tended to occur in feature or "soft" news articles rather than "hard" news stories. (Author/DB)
