Role Conflict and the Special Education Supervisor: A Qualitative Analysis.

Results of interviews with 10 special education supervisors indicated that the supervisor is forced to compromise administrative and technical assistance aspects of the job description. A typology of special education supervisors is presented, suggesting that role conflict is a function of the supervisor's view of the legitimate activities of that role. (Author/CL)
