A Design-of-Instruction Analysis of Concept Teaching in Five Basal Language Programs: Violations from the Bottom up.
Jitendra, Asha K.; Kameenui, Edward J.
Journal of Special Education, v22 n2 p199-219 Sum 1988
Concept-teaching procedures in five basal language programs for kindergarten were analyzed on the basis of 11 design-of-instruction criteria. Concepts such as position, color, shape, size, and directionality were examined. Results suggest that the programs' concept-teaching procedures failed to adhere to essential principles for designing effective teaching sequences. (Author/JDD)
