Tools for the Task? Perspectives on Assistive Technology in Educational Settings.
Todis, Bonnie
Journal of Special Education Technology, v13 n2 p49-61 Fall 1996
A two-year qualitative study evaluated use of assistive technology by 13 students. Excerpts from case studies illustrate the perspectives of parents, specialists (physical therapists and speech language pathologists), special and regular education teachers, instructional assistants, student users, and peers. Results demonstrate the complex interactions resulting from these varied perspectives and reasons why technology sometimes fails to produce hoped-for outcomes. (DB)
