Self-Reported School Difficulties and Tobacco Use among Fourth- to Seventh-Grade Students.
Lee, David J.; Trapido, Edward; Rodriguez, Richard
Journal of School Health, v72 n9 p368-73 Nov 2002
Examined the relationship between academic and behavioral difficulties at school and tobacco use in 4th-7th graders. Data from student interviews at the time of enrollment and 8 months later indicated that average to below-average academic performance at baseline predicted new cigarette use at 8 months. Self-reported school difficulties related to lifetime use of all major forms of tobacco. (SM)
