This is a joint statement of the American Nurses Association and the American School Health Association endorsing expansion of the traditional role of school nurses so that they may serve as school nurse practitioners. Such practitioners (upon completion of a course of study outlined in the article) would assume a more direct and responsible professional role in the school setting.
